On March 25, Ambassador Avet Adonts, head of the Mission to EU delivered a lecture on 'The Future of Armenia: The Domestic, Regional, European and Global Context' at the Faculty of Social Sciences, KU Leuven.

The Ambassador, who was introduced by Dean Katlijn Malfliet, spoke about the national identity of Armenia and the Armenian people and stressed that Armenia's choice to seek closer ties with the EU is deeply rooted in shared ideas and values.

He introduced the current state-of-play in the Armenia-EU relations and the prospects for further deepening the cooperation through the Association Agreement and the DCFTA.

Speaking about the situation in the region, Ambassador Adonts gave a detailed overview of the Nagorno Karabagh conflict and the peace process, as well as the Armenian initiative to normalize the relations with Turkey and reasons for its failure.

The lecture was followed by an open and lively discussion with the audience which completely filled the Raadzaal.
