 On May 19th the signing ceremony of the Agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the European Commission on the participation of the Republic of Armenia in the European Union Horizon2020 research and innovation framework program took place in Brussels.

The agreement was signed by the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia Levon Mkrtchyan and EU Commissioner on Research, Science and Innovation Carlos Moedas.

The negotiations on joining the program coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia on the Armenian side were conducted between Yerevan and Brussels for the last two years.

Horizon2020 framework agreement will be implemented until 2020. Armenia’s participation in the program will be conducive to the integration with the scientific research community of the European area, cooperation with the leading European scientific centers, development of innovative approaches and methods, which will benefit the sustainable development programs in Armenia. At the same time close cooperation in these fields will raise Armenia-EU relations to a qualitatively new level.
