Meeting of Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan with Member of European Parliament Geoffroy Didier

On December 12, 2023 Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Paruyr Hovhannisyan received a delegation led by Member of the European Parliament Geoffroy Didier.

Welcoming the members of the delegation, Paruyr Hovhannisyan particularly underscored the essential support of the European Parliament on issues of paramount importance for Armenia in this period full of challenges for Armenia and the whole region.

The Deputy Foreign Minister noted that the scope of cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union is impressive, including active political dialogue, joint efforts to overcome current challenges, implementation of the provisions of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement and prospects for expansion of cooperation in areas of mutual interest. The Deputy Foreign Minister highly appreciated the EU steps aimed at strengthening Armenia’s resilience.

Members of the delegation expressed their concern in regard to the large-scale military attack carried out by Azerbaijan in September against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh and the resulting humanitarian situation. Member of European Parliament Geoffroy Didier expressed his full support to Armenia in overcoming the current challenges.

At the request of the interlocutors, Paruyr Hovhannisyan presented in detail the steps aimed at normalizing Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and other regional issues.
