President Vahagn Khachaturyan received the delegation led by Nils Ušakovs, Co-Chair of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Partnership Committee

President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received the delegation led by Nils Ušakovs, Co-Chair of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Partnership Committee.

President Vahagn Khachaturyan welcomed the guests and emphasized that in recent years, Armenia-EU relations have significantly developed, covering almost all areas of the partnership agenda.

“I would like to highlight the role of the European Parliament, which has consistently supported issues of primary importance for Armenia and the Armenian people.

I also want to assure you that our attitude towards all initiatives of the European Union is positive, and we are inclined to further deepen our relations. I am confident that our cooperation will become even more comprehensive in the future,” the President stated.

Nils Ušakovs expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and appreciation.

During the meeting, issues related to the continued promotion of close cooperation between Armenia and the EU were discussed. Particular emphasis was placed on the continued advancement of Armenia-EU principled cooperation in the defense and security sectors. In this context, the important role of the European Union’s civilian monitoring mission in conducting surveillance and patrols was addressed. The joint programs and initiatives implemented by Armenia and the European Union were highly valued by both sides.

The discussion also highlighted the importance of supporting the uninterrupted implementation of democratic reforms in Armenia. In this context, the President stressed that Armenia has firmly adopted a policy of establishing and strengthening democratic institutions in the country and will not deviate from this path.

Regional realities and developments were also discussed during the meeting. In his speech, President Vahagn Khachaturyan reaffirmed Armenia’s unequivocal position on achieving stable and lasting peace. He emphasized that the presence of stable peace in the region is one of the key prerequisites for strengthening democracy.
