Ambassador Balayan’s Participation in the High-Level Political Conference of the “Europe Medialab” Program

On January 13, Ambassador Balayan participated as a keynote speaker at the high-level political conference of the “Europe Medialab” program, taking part in a panel discussion titled “Journalism & Geopolitics – EU and NATO Coverage in Eastern Europe.”

In his remarks, Ambassador Balayan emphasized the role of an independent press, highlighting reliable information, professional responsibility, and transparency in an open society as fundamental pillars of democracy and sustainable development.

Ambassador Balayan welcomed the presence in Brussels of the first journalist from Armenia participating in the “Europe Medialab” program, underscoring the importance of engaging media professionals in the work of European institutions, including in terms of raising international awareness of issues related to Armenia and the region.

At the conclusion of the discussion, Ambassador Balayan responded to participants’ questions, reaffirming Armenia’s readiness to build a media environment based on shared values and to ensure freedom of speech.
